Q1. Where is the 5k Intentional Walk for ALS taking place?
A.1 The walk will take place on Saturday, June 10, at the Markham Civic Centre, 101 Town Centre Blvd., Markham (north-west corner of Hwy 7 and Warden Ave)
Q.2 Is this a fundraiser?
A.2 Absolutely! While this is a fundraising event, participants are encouraged not only to work hard to achieve their fundraising goal, but also to help us raise awareness by letting people know why they are participating in the Intentional Walk for ALS Double Play.
Q.3 Can people give me cash or cheque?
A.3 Yes. Please have your donors make cheques payable to "ALS Double Play" Please also use the following form to track your off line donations and bring your cash and cheques along with the form on Walk Day - June 10.
Q.4 Do you have anything that I can use to help spread the word or tell people I am walking?
Q5. My friend from the UK is having trouble donating to my page. What can she do?
A.5 Your friend is welcome to mail us a cheque make to "ALS Double Play" addressed to ALS Double Play, Intentional Walk for ALS, 227 Angus Glen Blvd., Markham, Ontario L6C 0K1 Canada OR they can use this web form which accepts donations outside of Canada and the USA.
Q6. What are you raising funds for?
A6. We are raising funds to help ALS Double Play meet their commitment with the University of Toronto to fund a new ALS researcher at the Tanz Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases.
Q7. Can people donate towards my walk?
A7. Yes. Once you create a fundraiser profile, you can direct people towards your link in order to donate.
Q8. Can I register if I don’t have a credit card or paypal account?
A8. Absolutely. Register by emailing us at: with “Walk Registration” in the subject line. Include the following information: Your full name, home address, and telephone number. We will send you a confirmation and information on how to raise funds for us. You can pay your registration fee on the day of the Intentional Walk.
Q9. Is the registration fee refundable?
A.9 The registration fee is non-refundable. Please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your situation.
Q10. Is my information secure?
A10. We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place, physical, electronic and managerial procures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online and on paper.
Q11. Are 100% of the proceeds going towards research and raising awareness?
A11. As a volunteer-based charity, we strive to maintain that 100% of donations raised will be going towards research and raising awareness. The registration fee will help to cover the cost of some expenses associated with running this event.
Q12. Is the registration fee eligible for a tax receipt?
A12. Your registration fee covers costs your participation in the event along with your event t-shirt. It is not eligible for a Canadian tax receipt.
Q13. Will donors receive a Canadian tax receipt?
A13. Online donations above $10 and cash/cheque donations of $15 and above will receive a Canadian tax receipt.
