A Tribute to Courage and Hope in the Face of ALS – Chris Snow

(Photo from Kelsie Snow's blog, Kelsie Snow Writes)

In the heart of our ALS community, the echoes of shared struggles and shared hopes bind us together. In fact, at our Intentional Walk for ALS this past June, our walk shirts were emblazoned, “It takes a community, Make ALS history.” We understand the importance of community while living with ALS and once we’ve lost our loved ones.

It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of Chris Snow, a courageous soul who faced the challenges of ALS with unyielding determination and grace. For those of you who have not yet heard of Chris, he was the Assistant GM for the Calgary Flames (hockey team). He was only 42 years old when we passed of ALS on September 30 this year.

Today, we stand united in honoring Chris's memory and expressing our gratitude to his wife, Kelsie Snow, for sharing his profound journey.

At ALS Double Play, we firmly believe in the power of these narratives. They serve as a important reminder of the daily battles faced by those living with ALS, shedding light on the urgent need for awareness, empathy, and action.

The stories of our loved ones transcend mere words; they connect us all, fostering empathy and understanding among communities. By sharing the struggles, triumphs, and moments of unwavering spirit of individuals like Chris Snow, we shed light on the realities of ALS. They inspire us to advocate more fiercely, fund research more passionately, and support one another more wholeheartedly.

To Kelsie Snow, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Your openness in sharing Chris's journey has not only deepened the collective understanding of ALS but has also given a voice to countless others who face similar challenges. Your bravery in the face of adversity, your unwavering support for Chris and your children, and your willingness to share your story have left an indelible mark on our hearts. Your advocacy amplifies the voices of those affected by ALS and reminds us all of the power of love, resilience, and community. Thank you.

Let us transform our grief into action. Let us stand together, united in our commitment to raising awareness, funding research, and supporting families affected by ALS. By amplifying the stories of those we've lost, we strengthen our resolve to make ALS history.

With deepest gratitude to Kelsie Snow for sharing Chris's struggle, and to all those who stand with us in the fight against ALS. Count us all as part of your community. We are thinking of you and your children as you learn to navigate a new normal without Chris.
