When Ian was diagnosed with ALS about eight years ago, he faced a future filled with uncertainty. A retired high school teacher, Ian approached life with curiosity, strength, and a deep sense of reflection. Today, though ALS has affected his ability to use his hands and he gets around with a motorized wheelchair, Ian still speaks clearly and shares his story with insight and grace.

We had the privilege of sitting down with Ian on a beautiful summer day in 2024 to film a three-part video series about his journey with ALS. In these conversations, Ian talks openly about how his life has changed, the realities of living with the disease, and what continues to bring him meaning and joy.

But Ian’s story is more than just about ALS. It’s about resilience, adapting to change, and finding purpose even in the face of profound challenges. His words offer wisdom not only for those affected by ALS but for anyone navigating life’s uncertainties.

Join Us This June for ALS Awareness Month in Canada

June is ALS Awareness Month in Canada, and we’re proud to mark the occasion with events that shine a light on this devastating disease—and the people living with it. (And if you’re reading this in May, it’s ALS Awareness Month in the United States too!)

We’re thrilled that Ian will be joining us in person at the Markham Public Library – Milliken Mills branch on Tuesday, June 18 at 6:00 PM. This special event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. It’s a rare opportunity to hear directly from someone living with ALS in an honest and interactive conversation.

And earlier in the month, we invite you to be part of our community at the 8th Annual Intentional Walk for ALS on Saturday, June 7. This family-friendly event brings people together to walk in support of those living with ALS and to raise funds for support, awareness, and research.

We’re grateful to Ian for his honesty, generosity, and courage in sharing his experience with us—and now with you. Whether you watch his story online, meet him in person, or join us at the walk, we hope you’ll be inspired to learn more and get involved. Check out the first video here.

I’m deeply grateful to NaturePath Herbal Clinic for the remarkable improvement in my Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) condition. Prior to starting their ALS Herbal Treatment program, my health was declining rapidly. After few months on their ALS Herbal treatment program, I’ve seen major progress, I can now walk independently, and my speech has significantly improved. Visit www.naturepathherbalclinic.com.
